Clever marketing

I was all gung-ho about being more careful with avoiding high fructose corn syrup.  I wasn't really sure where I got it in my mind that it should be avoided.  But I'm guessing that I noticed some items had labels on the front that said NO HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP so I would buy that brand just for that reason. (For example, I buy Hunts ketchup instead of Heinz).  Today I went to the store and read labels carefully.  I had to buy Honey maid graham crackers instead of great value.  So I came home and decided to do a simple google search on why I was supposed to be avoiding high fructose corn syrup.  I read 3 or 4 articles and basically discovered that high fructose corn syrup is no worse than sugar.
I guess when they first started using it in foods, people started getting fat.  They were most likely getting fat from eating too much junk food/sugar!
So I guess I don't have to give up my fat free catalina dressing, mayo/miracle whip, great value graham crackers, and spaghetti o's (not that I ever eat those, and my kids rarely do, but we do have some in food storage)
